An authentic respect for diversity, as evidenced by a sincere effort to learn about our students and to incorporate culturally responsive pedagogy into our day-to-day routines, will have a significant impact on creating/sustaining a safe, orderly, and high-achieving school community. We create opportunities for our students to acquire, integrate, extend, and refine content, as well as use it meaningfully, so that they develop the skills needed to actively explore and investigate the ever-changing world. Finally, reviewing student work and assessment data will enable the King Open staff to make informed decisions about instruction, with the goal of intentionally closing gaps in student learning and significantly increasing student achievement.
Title I Program: Title I is the largest federal aid program in our schools. Title I provides additional resources and instruction to improve the educational performance of low-achieving children in high-poverty schools and supports them in meeting challenging state academic content and performance standards
The Opportunity: We are seeking a dynamic and committed educator with strong content and pedagogical knowledge, solid classroom management skills, a deep commitment to educational and racial equity, and experience working in an urban school setting. The math interventionist will be required to collaborate with and plan instruction alongside classroom teachers, provide in-class co-teaching support, work with small groups, work cooperatively with personnel from the OSS Department, and help select appropriate materials for students. The math interventionist will also work directly with the Instructional Coach and principal to support data monitoring and analysis, school improvement, and intervention work. The math interventionist will support the implementation of the Math curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
Skillfully facilitate student learning of math content and practice standards.
Empower a diverse group of learners via compassionate math instruction.
Identify unique student needs and collaborate with educator team members to effectively address those needs and improve instructional practice.
Leverage and support students in using technology.
Incorporate a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to inform and modify instruction, as well as target intervention and enrichment needs.
Attend grade-level team meetings with grade-level colleagues as assigned.
Partner with families to include them in each student’s learning and development, guided by a profound understanding of the importance of this connection.
Attend regular school and department meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal and/or Title I Coordinator.
Your Skill Set: As the incoming Math Title I Interventionist,you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
Mathematics teaching experience in the elementary grades with a proven track record of promoting high achievement in the classroom.
Experience writing lesson plans with clear, attainable learning goals and aligned activities.
Experience using a range of assessments to analyze student learning to inform instruction.
