Principal Duties
Updating and developing UDOT Standard Drawings and Specifications relating to ITS.
Participating in the UDOT standards committee and reviewing and commenting on proposed standards changes from other groups.
Developing and updating other ITS-related manuals and guidelines, for example the ITS Design Manual.
Keeping track of Traffic Management Division (TMD) Equipment Contracts. This includes working with UDOT's Procurement Division to ensure that expiring contracts are renewed, and that new contracts are established in a timely manner.
Collaborating with others to ensure that equipment requirements are well-written and result in the Department procuring equipment that meets our needs.
Ensuring that State Furnished Materials Forms, used for projects to order ITS and related equipment from the UDOT Warehouse, are kept up to date.
Assisting the Region Two ITS Manager with his/her duties, or other Region ITS Managers as needed. This may include reviewing and commenting on ITS plans; coordinating ITS communications with the UDOT Fiber Group; tracking new cabinet locations associated with projects for asset management; ordering state furnished materials; hiring consultants for splice details; coordinating inspection and integration.
Coordinating with procurement contractors, including preparing packages for procurement contractors; assigning a procurement contractor to do the work; following up to make sure work is completed correctly in a timely manner; coordinating with field staff for inspection/review; and processing contractor invoices for payment.
Minimum Qualifications
Be registered as a professional engineer (PE) in Utah.
Have at least two (2) years of engineering experience following licensure as a PE.
Preferences Hiring manager may identify additional related skills and requirements as preferences in making hiring and promotion decisions.
Supplemental Information
Working Conditions - This position is both in-office and field work, therefore the risks are both those found in the typical office setting and those that require the use of special safety precautions.
Physical Requirements - Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work and special physical demands are not required to perform the work; however, while working in the field physical requirements of this job are moderate.
Employee may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Region Director/Group Leader.
