An innovative opportunity for a PA to collaborate with attending hospitalists on the Hospital Medicine Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital! WE SUPPORT NEW GRADUATES!!! One-on-one direct support for your first 10 weeks of work with us as well as ongoing check-ins on your progress. Supportive clinical work environment - working as a Team with our HMU attendings. This is a 36 hour OR 40 hour per week Position and you get to choose!!! - This position will start as a day shift and then integrate into nights after the 1st year for New graduates and during the first year for an experienced PA. New graduate PA applicants: Please list clinical rotations (including institution and specialty) in your resume. Excellent, comprehensive training and support (developed based on your skill and experience level). This opportunity includes direct patient care from admission to discharge and a cross-coverage model for general inpatient medicine patients and subspecialty services. PLEASE NOTE: Within the first year, there is an expectation to work every other weekend. This weekend requirement will be reduced in subsequent years. Job Summary The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions
Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting. Performs complete histories and physical examinations. Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings. Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures. Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries. Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population. Qualifications
