Job Description The Senior Enterprise Architect designs, builds, implements, and maintains enterprise‑class systems and architectures to support the agency’s mission as an ISSE. This role is critical in aligning technology solutions with organizational risk management objectives, establishing secure and scalable environments, and ensuring enterprise‑wide architectural integrity. The architect serves as a strategic advisor and technical leader, developing baseline and target enterprise architectures that support operational excellence, governance, compliance, and cybersecurity across the system lifecycle.

U.S. Citizenship is required.
Must possess an active TS clearance at the time of application, be willing and able to obtain SCI access, and pass a CI polygraph.
Candidate must be able to work onsite five days a week at Washington, D.C.; Huntsville, Alabama; or Clarksburg, West Virginia.
Qualifications And Experience
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
At least eight (8) years of experience in enterprise architecture, systems engineering, or IT strategy with a focus on security and risk management.
Strong understanding of architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, DODAF) and federal IT standards (e.g., NIST SP 800‑series, FISMA, FedRAMP).
Demonstrated experience designing enterprise architectures that support RMF processes and cybersecurity programs.
Expertise in designing and integrating cloud, hybrid, and on‑premises enterprise systems.
Proven ability to conduct gap analyses and develop scalable architecture solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as TOGAF, CISSP, CEA, or AWS/Azure Architecture certifications.
Experience supporting federal agencies, national security, or defense organizations.
Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture, microservices, containerization, and identity and access management (IAM).
Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Responsibilities Enterprise Architecture Design & Governance
Designs and maintains secure, scalable, and interoperable enterprise architectures that meet mission requirements.
Develops and maintains baseline and target architectures for enterprise production environments aligned with the organization’s security and risk posture.
Aligns architecture frameworks and standards (e.g., TOGAF, DODAF, NIST) with enterprise-wide business and technology strategies.
Strategic Planning & Alignment
Partners with senior leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders to translate mission needs and regulatory requirements into architectural solutions.
Ensures architecture supports RMF implementation, continuous monitoring, and secure information system operations.
Gap Analysis & Remediation
Identifies design gaps and architectural deficiencies in existing or proposed solutions.
Recommends and drives improvements that enhance system stability, security, portability, and scalability across on‑premises and cloud environments.
Standards & Policy Integration
Develops and enforces enterprise architectural policies, principles, and standards. Integrates cybersecurity frameworks, federal compliance requirements (e.g., FISMA, NIST SP 800‑53), and Zero Trust Architecture concepts into design decisions.
Technology Evaluation & Implementation
Assesses emerging technologies for alignment with strategic goals and enterprise security.
Guides the selection, implementation, and lifecycle management of secure systems and services.
Documentation & Communication
Produces clear architectural documentation, roadmaps, and reference models for internal teams and governance boards.
Communicates complex technical solutions effectively to senior stakeholders, business leaders, and system owners.
