The Boston University (BU) LGBTQIA+ Center for Faculty & Staff seeks an Assistant Director to serve as a resource for the BU community and collaborate with the Center team to support its mission. The Assistant Director will program, outreach, and educate on campus; oversee communication and marketing; assist with administration and operation of the Center; provide support and referrals for members; supervise student employees and volunteers; and maintain the Center’s physical space.

Responsibilities include:

Design and implement robust programming for LGBTQIA+ communities, with an intersectional lens.

Develop and manage social media and marketing campaigns; update website.

Administer day‑to‑day operations and coordinate support for Center staff and volunteers.

Provide referrals and support services for community members.

Maintain the physical space of the Center.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and 3‑5 years of related professional experience in higher education or a related field.

Extensive knowledge about sexual orientation and gender identity and experience addressing LGBTQIA+ issues.

Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills for diverse audiences.

Proficiency in social media, graphic design, content creation, and marketing platforms.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong problem‑solving, initiative, and independent work skills.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Experience juggling multiple projects with accuracy and timeliness.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, and graphic design software.

Availability to work evenings and weekends for programming outside 9 am‑5 pm, Monday‑Friday hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education administration, communications, social work, or related field and 5‑7 years of progressive experience.

Experience working with faculty and staff in a university setting.

Experience leading training on gender and sexuality topics.

Experience in belonging and inclusion initiatives.

Knowledge of Boston/Massachusetts community‑serving organizations.

Experience supervising students or professional staff.
