Job Summary:

The VP, Portfolio Management is an individual contributor who performs financial analysis and prepares underwriting documents to support multimillion‑dollar corporate credit requests. The role obtains initial approvals, monitors credit performance, rates risk, and guides junior staff. The VP maintains asset quality and collaborates with product partners to cross‑sell KeyBank’s products.

Responsibilities:

Gather and analyze all relevant financial data for high‑value clients or prospects, including financial statement spreads, historical performance, credit metrics, and risk mitigants.

Model future financial performance of clients and prospects, including downside scenarios.

Demonstrate leadership in structuring transactions in collaboration with Business Partners, Bankers, and Relationship Managers.

Perform enhanced leveraged cash flow due diligence when appropriate.

Prepare a thorough credit underwriting document identifying credit risks, industry concerns, market share trends, and other pertinent issues.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including KYC, OFAC, and Beneficial Ownership checks.

Manage the approval process for complex lending commitments, amendments, waivers, and consents, including monitoring and reporting to Credit Executives.

Review and maintain all necessary legal documentation, including credit agreements, guarantees, security pledges, and collateral documentation.

Monitor portfolio accounts for covenant compliance, liquidity, earnings trends, and other essential information.

Identify potential problem accounts and work with Asset Recovery Group to improve the bank’s position.

Establish and maintain direct client relationships, attend management presentations, bank meetings, and site visits.

Contribute to or prepare white papers on assigned industry segments.

Provide guidance and feedback to Analysts and Associates.

Gather and prepare data in response to ad hoc data requests.

Perform other duties as assigned; duties may change or new ones may be assigned at any time.

Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, acting professionally at all times and avoiding conflicts of interest.

Education Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in finance, accounting, economics, and/or business (required).

Master’s Degree /MBA (preferred).

Experience Qualifications:

Minimum of 5+ years of commercial underwriting, credit, banking, and/or financial services experience (required).

Competent with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and effectively utilize other technology applications (required).

Demonstrated competence in financial analysis and modeling (required).

Well established ability to gather research, analyze data, and synthesize large amounts of information for credit underwriting (required).

Experience structuring meaningful financial covenants for syndicated debt facilities (required).

Developing experience managing the left‑lead/administrative agent role in syndicated deals (required).

Ability to lead discussions with clients during negotiations and act as primary lending representative on deal execution (required).

Knowledge of business and legal elements of credit agreements and the ability to work with counsel on agented transactions (required).

Solid understanding of banking and investment banking products and current market dynamics (required).

Effective and polished presentation and communication skills (required).

Ability to plan, multi‑task, manage time effectively, and lead work independently with limited direction (required).

Compensation and Benefits:
