We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Director, People Governance and Controls, to join our People team. This role is located in New York, NY. Responsibilities

Lead the control environment across all People Team functions, driving strategic initiatives to enhance controls, reduce risk, and ensure compliance with internal policies, labor laws, and regulatory requirements. Partner with senior People Team leadership, the Control Hub, and corporate functions to evolve HR controls. Assess, develop, and execute a robust control and governance strategy across all People Team functions to mitigate risk, ensure compliance and align with organizational goals. Partner with People Team leadership and cross-functional teams to identify control gaps and design effective stop-gap measures. Advise senior HR leadership on risk, compliance, and control matters, overseeing risk identification, assessment, and mitigation across People Team processes including payroll, benefits, talent acquisition, and employee relations. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, leading control testing, timely remediation of deficiencies, and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with internal audit and external assurance teams on control reviews and audits. Oversee the development and execution of rigorous control testing programs to validate effectiveness and adherence to standards. Ensure the timely identification, escalation, and remediation of control deficiencies. Champion the implementation of advanced automation solutions to enhance control efficiency, reduce manual effort, and streamline testing, monitoring, and reporting processes. Qualifications

15+ years of progressive People Team/Human Resources experience with a focus on controls, governance, and risk management. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, CCP, CRISC) preferred. Extensive knowledge of all People domains including payroll, benefits, talent management, and HRIS. Proven track record implementing controls frameworks in large, complex organizations, preferably in financial services. Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements impacting People function. Experience leveraging automation and AI to improve HR processes and controls. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work collaboratively across functions and influence at senior levels. About BNY & Perks

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,500 and $275,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance and market factors.
