Overview RadicalMedia is seeking an attorney to help manage a wide variety of legal and business affairs needs for the company. The role supports all departments across the company, including its Entertainment division in the production of television series and feature-length films, its Creative Studio division in the production of immersive and branded events, and its Commercials division. This role is located in the company’s New York City office and is part of a three-person in‑house Business and Legal Affairs team.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as day‑to‑day production counsel for documentary television series/feature‑length films, immersive and branded events, commercials, and music videos.
Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of production‑related agreements, including vendor agreements, personal services agreements for directors, producers, composers, and on‑camera talent, NDAs, equipment rental agreements, and personal appearance, location, and materials releases.
Negotiate and draft project development agreements, including shopping agreements, attachment agreements, and book option/purchase agreements.
Work in close coordination with the Head of Business and Legal Affairs, production management, and other staff, including the Director of Rights and Clearances, to encourage efficiency and achieve company goals.
Assist in other legal/business affairs needs as required.
Qualification Requirements
JD degree and licensed to practice law in New York.
Exceptional written and verbal communication and contract drafting skills.
3 years of prior transactional experience at an entertainment law firm and/or in the legal department of a television or film studio/production company, with meaningful experience handling production counsel matters for long‑form documentary programming.
Highly organized and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment where multiple projects of varying types are in production at a given time.
Experience interacting with, and constructively guiding, production and creative personnel (e.g., executive producers, lead creatives, line producers, archival producers) to meet business and/or legal objectives is a plus.
Strong working knowledge of television and film industry customs, practices, and agreements, contract law, and intellectual property rights.
