The George Washington University Office of the Vice President and General Counsel (OGC) is seeking a 2025 or 2026 graduate of the George Washington University Law School for the position of Attorney Fellow. This position is a term-limited two-year commitment that is expected to begin in September 2026 and end no later than September 2028.

The successful candidate will join a team of lawyers providing legal and strategic advice to the university and will assist with a wide variety of legal and policy issues that confront a large urban teaching and research institution. The fellowship will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about a broad variety of legal fields, including: contract review and drafting; research and advising on matters impacting students and the student experience, including on Title IX, collegiate sports, and student academic and non‑academic misconduct; litigation support, including assisting with discovery; regulatory compliance; and issues related to health law, intellectual property and technology transfer, business and real estate, and employment and labor law.

The Attorney Fellow will receive assignments and take direction from OGC attorneys. General supervision will be provided by one or two designated OGC attorneys.

Minimum Qualifications Qualified candidates will hold a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited institution. Admission to a state bar is not required at commencement of the fellowship, but the successful candidate must sit for a bar exam and be eligible for admission to the District of Columbia Bar by a date provided by the Office of General Counsel.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications Must be a 2025 or 2026 graduate of the George Washington University Law School. Bar membership is not required at the start of the position, but the successful candidate must have taken the bar examination prior to September 2026 and pass the bar within six months.

Hiring Range $72,235.20 - $99,250.68
