Our client, a leading global law firm, is seeking a Senior Information Governance Analyst to help drive the strategy and execution of firmwide records and information management initiatives on its dynamic team. This role focuses on assessing current practices, identifying compliance and operational risks, and implementing solutions that support secure, efficient, and policy-aligned information governance. The Senior Analyst will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to design workflows, lead process improvements, and deliver training on best practices related to data privacy, retention, and defensible disposition. This is a hybrid role based in Chicago, requiring three days a week in the office. Ideal for a detail‑oriented professional with strong analytical skills and deep IG expertise.

Duties And Responsibilities

Develops strategies and procedures to ensure the classification, confidentiality, privacy, security, retention and defensible disposition of records and information

Documents, analyzes, and assesses current records, email and document management processes; identifies issues and potential risks; analyzes potential benefits and risks of alternatives, measures the impact of planned changes, and provides justification for the recommended solution

Monitors, researches and evaluates technological advances in the industry to identify appropriate alternatives for enhancing Firm business operations

Drafts process controls, test plans and assessment criteria to measure compliance with established processes and policies

Develops and delivers training and coaching to business professionals and lawyers regarding the proper management of records, documents and email in accordance with Firm policies

Collaborates with colleagues in other Firm departments to ensure alignment of information governance initiatives with Firm’s objectives

Designs business processes and workflows for the creation, classification, access, maintenance, compliance management and destruction of electronic information

Prepares recommendations for the design or reengineering of processes and procedures to facilitate compliance with Firm requirements

Assists with development of change management programs and implementation plans needed to comply with Firm requirements

Serves as IG resident expert by staying current on leading practices for securing, monitoring, and implementing governance for documents throughout the information lifecycle

Prepares status reports, metrics, and compile statistics on processes and projects; creates or updates spreadsheets, pivot‑tables and other relevant reports

Prepares presentations or written reports suitable for senior management to educate and informs them of issues or risks and recommendations for mitigation

Education and/or Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree

Significant experience in records management, IT, information governance experience

Knowledge of information governance best practices and procedures

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred

Experience with records and/or document management applications such as NetDocuments, Intapp Walls, and data monitoring software

Information Governance Profession (IGP) certification

Previous experience with DLP tools such as Cyberhaven, Netskope, and ProofPoint

Previous experience with Microsoft Purview
