Job Summary: The Department of Mathematical, Information and Computer Sciences is accepting applications for adjunct faculty to teach courses in visual programming, HTML, PHP, and Python. These courses are part of our adult degree completion program, meeting once a week in the evening.

Salary: PLNU pays adjuncts at a per unit rate. For a 4-unit semester, the approximate pay is $8,900, with actual salary depending on units.

Application Pool: Applicants meeting initial qualifications may be placed in an adjunct pool for consideration as positions become available. Notification will be sent regarding pool status.

Job Status: Part-time

Job Description: Responsibilities:

Effective teaching in undergraduate courses and computer labs.

Instruction, management, motivation, and evaluation of students.

Writing syllabi and following course plans.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution.

Industrial programming experience preferred.

Commitment to teaching excellence; at least one year of higher education teaching preferred.

Ability to learn university online systems for grading and learning management.

Professional interaction with students, educators, and the public.

Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement, in accordance with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.

Successful background check required; considered in accordance with 'Fair Chance' laws.

Additional Instructions: Number of adjunct hires varies; positions depend on departmental needs. Applicants remain in the pool for one year and must reapply for subsequent years. Official transcripts are required before contracts are issued.
