This is a tenure‑track faculty position in the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, part of Don B. Huntley College of Agriculture. The salary range is $97,020‑$111,360. The role focuses primarily on undergraduate course instruction in the Animal Health Science (AHS) major with opportunities for research, scholarship, and service. Department Summary
The Animal & Veterinary Sciences Department offers a four‑year curriculum leading to a B.S. in Animal Science. The Pre‑Veterinary Science/Graduate School sub‑plan allows students to qualify for most veterinary medical schools. Key Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate courses in the Animal Health Science major, including hands‑on coursework and core clinical components. Provide departmental service including curriculum development, program assessment, student recruitment, and retention. Minimum Qualifications
DVM or equivalent. Evidence of collaborative work and willingness to work with research faculty and animal units. Expertise in small animal medicine/surgery. Licensure in California as a DVM or be able to obtain a license by hire date. Excellent interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for teaching students. Preferred/Desired Qualifications
Three or more years of clinical veterinary experience. Experience supervising and training veterinary support staff. Experience teaching at the university level. Clinical experience with large animals, horses, exotics, or laboratory animal species. Successful scholarship, including research and grant writing experience. Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence (Teaching Philosophy Statement). Conditions of Employment
Background check (criminal records) required. Out‑of‑state employment prohibited. The incumbent is a “mandated reporter” under state child abuse and neglect reporting laws. Application Process
Cover letter describing interest and qualifications. Curriculum vitae with at least five references. Teaching Philosophy statement (max 2 pages). Completed Cal Poly Pomona application form. Unofficial transcripts showing highest degree earned; finalists must provide three recent letters of reference. The position is open until filled. First consideration will be given to applications received no later than February 15, 2026. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; Cal Poly Pomona cannot sponsor H‑1B visas at this time.
