What You’ll Be Asked To Do

Internalize standards-aligned curriculum and deliver academically rigorous, culturally relevant lessons; differentiate instruction as needed Provide a safe, welcoming, and joyful learning environment for our youngest learners Communicate effectively with scholars, their families, and staff Contribute to school-wide systems, structures, and procedures Promote equitable access to resources and opportunities for all stakeholders Analyze instructional and culture data to inform planning and improve teaching practices and student outcomes Create a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment that supports diverse abilities Lead and participate in community-building activities and school duties (e.g., bus duty, home visits, enrollment events, IEP meetings, lunch, arrival/dismissal, hallway duties, homeroom, advisory groups, staff professional development, and grade team meetings) Model Tier 1 systems across classrooms to create a safe and predictable environment, using weekly behavior and suspension data to guide decisions Coach and support students through restorative practices that foster empathy, belonging, and positive relationships What You’ll Need

Passion for education and commitment to anti-racism and the school’s mission, beliefs, and values Belief that all students can achieve at high academic levels and deserve opportunities to succeed Bachelor’s degree and NYS teaching certification required; Master’s degree strongly preferred (institution offers $2,000 toward Master’s degree and NY State certification within two years) Cultural competence and willingness to examine beliefs and biases Culturally responsive conflict resolution skills Proven organizational, oral, and written communication skills; punctuality; accuracy; reliable meeting of deadlines Content knowledge of literacy practices Self-reflection and openness to feedback to support professional growth Positive, solution-oriented attitude Willingness to collaborate with coach and grade teams Strong track record of building positive relationships with families, students, and staff while valuing diversity and inclusion Who Are We?

With two teachers per classroom, we aim for smaller teacher-to-student ratios to accelerate learning and tailor instruction. We emphasize the science of reading, with a focus on phonics, word recognition, vocabulary, background knowledge, and comprehension from the start.
