Location: Indianapolis (local position with occasional travel)

Position Summary The Director of Construction will oversee all aspects of construction operations, ensuring successful project execution from pre-construction through closeout. This individual will manage multiple active developments, lead construction teams, oversee budgets and schedules, and implement systems that support quality, efficiency, and company growth. Reporting to senior leadership, this role plays a key part in maintaining operational excellence and advancing the organization’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and support project managers, superintendents, and field staff across a growing regional portfolio.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and safety throughout all phases of construction.
Oversee all stages of construction — from pre-construction planning and design coordination to final turnover.
Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet or exceed quality expectations.
Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and schedules in alignment with company goals.
Monitor project performance, control costs, and proactively address risks and variances.
Serve as the primary liaison between development, design, finance, and property management teams.
Manage relationships with general contractors, consultants, municipalities, and external partners to ensure seamless project execution.
Streamline internal workflows and adopt tools that enhance visibility, communication, and reporting.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen operational consistency across the organization.
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive construction management experience, ideally with multifamily, mixed-use, or residential development projects.
Proven success leading multiple projects simultaneously and guiding cross-functional teams.
Strong background in budgeting, scheduling, and contract management.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency with modern construction management platforms (e.g., Procore or similar).
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Professional certifications (e.g., LEED, PMP, OSHA) preferred but not required.
Base pay range $175,000.00/yr - $190,000.00/yr
