Overview
Program Support Coordinator - Community Engagement Services at The Family Tree, Inc. The role focuses on managing all volunteer and internship programs, expanding services, engaging potential volunteers, and collaborating with academic institutions to offer dynamic, community-based service-learning experiences for student interns. The position also involves daily implementation of parent support, family engagement, and children’s programming throughout Maryland. The Lead Coordinator provides Technical Assistance for Maryland’s Chapter of the Circle of Parents® National and supervises staff and maintains program sites and partnerships across the state. Responsibilities
Volunteer Management: assess current methods of volunteer recruitment, training, placement, and retention. Develop and implement strategies to recruit & screen volunteers and interns for all programs. Develop partnerships with universities, colleges, non-profits, and the business community to support professional development of staff, volunteers, interns, and Parent Leaders. Recommend annually a budget to support program activities and services; assist in seeking out funding sources and possible grant writing. Work cooperatively and professionally with staff, Board members, and donors. Program Development and Expansion: develop, implement, and expand support groups throughout the state using Circle of Parents® National standards; establish community partnerships to promote site development and monitor services based on strategic and annual work plans. Participate in development of programs and services including grant and report writing. Training and Support: maintain program fidelity standards for adult and children’s groups; provide ongoing consultation, training, technical assistance, and support for parent facilitators and children’s program workers; supervise and train volunteers, interns, and external agencies as group facilitators or child nurturers; provide training and support on child maltreatment and related issues for community agencies as assigned. Administration and Management: manage assigned budget including tracking expenditures; conduct regular supervision with direct reports; monitor program files/data for compliance with standards; complete statistical reports; attend required staff and partner meetings, training, or conferences. Community Engagement and Representation: serve as lead state agency partner representative during national affiliate meetings; oversee development and training of the Maryland Parent Leadership Team; provide direct intake, resource, and referral services via the agency’s Parenting helpline. Education
Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Mental Health, Nursing and Education) – Required Master’s degree in behavioral sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Human Services, Family Studies, and Education) – preferred Experience
At least 3 years of experience in Human Services/Social Work or Non-Profit field; at least 1 year supervisory experience. One year working directly with families or children within the community or in group settings. Experience managing volunteers and/or interns. Program development/implementation experience. Experience working with volunteers from diverse backgrounds including interns, professionals, donors, and community members. Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills Knowledge of child development and parenting skills building Microsoft Office Suite skills (including Publisher, PowerPoint, and Excel) Exceptional organization skills Work Environment
Requires a valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance Must work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings for special programs/occasions Must be prepared to travel to various program sites and communities
