Department : Education Innovation & Tech Salary : Commensurate with Experience
Description : This position is located in Houston, TX and requires an on‑site presence five days a week, Monday through Friday. The candidate will advise university faculty in applying complex instructional design principles and educational technology to develop courses, provide expertise to facilitate instructional initiatives, supervise staff, and coordinate campus‑wide educational technology efforts.
Responsibilities :
Design, develop, and deliver information security training courses, workshops, and seminars for university employees, including new employee orientation and annual HR mandatory training.
Serve as the primary subject matter expert and provide consultation and support for faculty and staff.
Investigate, propose, and participate in decision making for the purchase of new software and technology.
Troubleshoot technical and operational issues of technology‑based programs.
Develop and conduct training of faculty on new academic software and technology, and direct the work of graduate technology assistants.
Research and assist faculty in the development of new and innovative teaching experiences.
Present and represent University instructional designers at conferences.
Collaborate with and assist internal and system‑wide instructional designers.
Provide leadership in the instructional designer collaborative meetings for the University of Houston System groups.
Coordinate campus‑wide educational technology projects and initiatives.
Perform other job‑related duties as required.
Qualifications :
Education: Master’s degree or equivalent formal training in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum seven (7) years of directly job‑related experience.
Certification/Licensing: None.
Preferred Qualification : Proficiency with AI skills such as prompt engineering, AI‑powered content creation, personalized learning, automated prototyping, and data analysis.
