About the Role

Looking for a Technical Specialist Cybersecurity Level II to support the JS J7 Joint Training DevSecOps pipeline core infrastructure and data center in Suffolk, VA. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Deputy Directorate, Joint Training (DDJT). This role is 100% onsite.

Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain multiple VMware vSphere environments (ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, vSphere Client).

Manage datastores (VMFS, NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel); implement and manage software‑defined storage solutions like VMware vSAN.

Install, configure, and administer server operating systems, typically Windows Server (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP) and Linux distributions.

Apply OS‑level patches and security updates; ensure servers adhere to security baselines and compliance requirements.

Diagnose and resolve issues related to server performance, operating system failures, network connectivity, and application interaction within the VM.

Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., PowerShell/PowerCLI for Windows/VMware, Bash/Python for Linux) to automate routine server and VM management tasks.

Qualifications Clearance Level: Secret (Top Secret Eligible)

Certifications (IAT Level II): CySA+, Security+, CCNA – Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP

Preferred: RHCSA Red Hat Certified System Administrator, RHCDS Red Hat Certified Data Center Specialist

A functional area certification (ie. Windows, Linux, VMWare, CCNA, Network+, etc.) is required prior to start date.

Required Skills A minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience in each of the following areas:

Virtualization: VMware vSphere technologies including ESXi, vCenter, vMotion, High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), and vSAN. Familiarity with other virtualization platforms such as Microsoft Hyper‑V is a plus.

Operating Systems: Administration of both Windows Server environments (including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP) and Linux systems.

Automation & Scripting: Development and use of scripts for automation using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, and/or Bash.

Hardware: Working with enterprise‑level servers and data center infrastructure components.

Networking: Applying foundational understanding of network protocols and concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, and basic network troubleshooting.

Storage: Utilizing storage technologies including vSAN, SAN, NAS, and storage protocols such as iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and NFS.

Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail and thorough documentation practices.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proven ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional team environment in support of the JS J7 mission.

Pay range and compensation package

Compensation: $40/hr to $50/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
