Lead Database Administrator NOTICE OF FILING APPLICATION FOR PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT CERTIFICATION

Duties Manage and maintain high availability database solutions, including clustering and disaster recovery, and perform installations and configurations. Work closely with network engineering staff on Exadata network design, configuration, testing, and documentation; propose and implement enhancements, including software and hardware updates that will improve performance, reliability, and scalability of Exadata servers. Manage physical and logical resources, connectivity, networks, and topology services, lifecycles, and business processes. Coordinate with the Oracle Platinum Support team to perform patching activities and resolve hardware and software issues. Provision new Virtual Machines with appropriate capacity planning and submit appropriate firewall requests for connectivity. Work closely with multiple application teams on database design and configuration. Understand the nature of application (OLTP or OLAP) and design Logical and Physical Models. Work with teams to develop and modify database programming code and gather new requirements for re-design or re-coding. Plan and implement database changes with application developers and system administrators to minimize disruption, manage system resources, and perform other tuning tasks. Perform log-based change data capture, distribution, transformation, and delivery. Manage heterogeneous databases and operating systems. Maintain bidirectional replication (Golden Gate) without distance limitation, maintain transactional integrity, reliable data delivery, and fast recovery after interruptions. Work with database leads to ensure and manage security and performance of database systems. Optimize database performance and identify and resolve performance issues. Patch systems and deploy hot fixes, service releases, and major releases on planned maintenance cycles. Implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot Charter’s NOC databases, Mobile 2.0 databases, and PCDS databases. Install software, configure, and evaluate technical options and risks during troubleshooting. Perform regular database memory tuning, table LOB segments and index de-fragmentation, rebuild indexes on-line without business impact, and identify problematic queries and fine tune to avoid impact on customer order processing. Implement code in lower environments prior to promoting code into Production environment. Assist and lead in determining root cause, analyzing and presenting to management, and proposing and taking corrective action to avoid or eliminate similar issues. Add and drop database partitions, configure Oracle Enterprise Manager and other monitoring tools, implement monitoring policies, establish data replication, and assist in developing disaster recovery strategies. Perform regular database maintenance activities such as purging data which is out of retention, adding partitions for future growth, and dropping partitions to reclaim disk space and reuse reclaimed disk for future use. Monitor critical alerts, system availability, and resource consumption through tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager. Collaborate with engineers and operations teams to find methods to improve database performance and reduce or eliminate outages, self-inflicted or otherwise. Provide a high level of technical engineering support and guidance to other engineers and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards, and documentation are met. Identify downtime, monitor the process end-to-end, and follow the deployment standards for multiple applications utilizing change request tools to ensure there is no end-user impact. Implement failover capabilities for all critical databases to reduce operational impact. Develop Shell scripts to automate routine activities, including health checks, backups, and monitoring.

Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related degree. 8 years of experience utilizing Oracle database version 11g and above to perform administrative tasks, including performance tuning, backup and restoration of data, managing user access, and performing patching and upgrades. 3 years of experience: utilizing Oracle Exadata X9 to run Oracle database software; and utilizing advisors, SQL tuning, indexing, partitioning, AWR, and ASH to performance tune Oracle database version 11g and above in order to monitor and adjust Oracle Enterprise Manager to increase performance. 2 years of experience utilizing Unix and Linux operating systems to demonstrate command-line proficiency, patching and upgrading, and basic performance tuning. Hybrid arrangement is available.

Compensation and Work Hours Salary: $140,358 - $156,600 per year Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40+ hours/week)

Salaries depend on geography, experience, and education; negotiations begin at $140,358 per year.
