Job Summary
UC Davis Health School of Medicine seeks a dedicated Labor and Delivery Hospitalist to join the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department, Division of University Women’s Health (UWH). UC Davis delivers ~2,000 babies per year, has a Level III NICU, and serves a high‑risk obstetric population.

Summary The Division of UWH has full‑time and part‑time Labor and Delivery Hospitalist opportunities, offering a twelve‑hour shift. This position also holds an academic “without salary” appointment and provides an opportunity to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while contributing to education in an academic setting.
As a Labor and Delivery Hospitalist, You Will
Provide direct patient care in general obstetrics and gynecology.
Perform clinical duties including occasional outpatient care; daytime laborist on labor and delivery; obstetric day call; obstetric night call in‑house; at‑home gynecology call in rotation; and inpatient nighttime hospitalist duties on labor and delivery, including urgent and emergent gynecologic surgery.
Handle OB triage, labor management, postpartum care, initial evaluation and admission of antepartum patients, ER coverage, emergency surgeries, and inpatient consults.
Provide teaching and supervision of residents and medical students in labor and delivery, operating room, and inpatient wards.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to enhance patient outcomes and ensure the highest standards of care.
Participate in administrative meetings to support departmental initiatives and operations while adhering to all relevant policies.
Qualifications
Ability to obtain a DEA license without restriction within 3 months of hire.
Board certified or board‑eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology; Medical License in California by hire.
Completed an approved Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency program by hire.
M.D. or D.O. degree.
One year or greater recent clinical experience in general OB/GYN.
Collaborate effectively as a multidisciplinary team member; triage urgent patient needs; prioritize patient experience; manage economic resources; strong written, oral, and verbal communication.
Prioritize quality of care and patient experience; timely completion of paperwork; demonstrate highest ethical conduct; provide and accept feedback; embrace change and continuous quality improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience caring for LGBTQ and diverse populations.
Position Information
Salary: $272,400.00 – $304,400.00 (Monthly, UC99)
Appointment Type: Staff: Contract (Full‑time, 100%)
