Job Summary
Northstar Fire Protection of Texas is a nationally recognized company that engineers, fabricates, and installs fire sprinkler systems for commercial, government, healthcare, high‑rise condominium, and mixed‑use projects. Shambaugh & Son, a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., is seeking a Fire Protection Sprinkler Designer. The designer will be responsible for creating layout designs using AutoCAD/HydraCAD, developing hydraulic calculations, and coordinating with trades to deliver high‑quality fire protection solutions.
Responsibilities
Design and layout of fire sprinkler systems for structures.
Read, analyze and interpret contract documents, drawings and specifications.
Plan, coordinate and present design solutions to individuals and groups.
Perform hydraulic calculations and project cost analysis.
Develop positive relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction.
Provide fire sprinkler designs using AutoCAD, HydraCAD, AutoSprink and Revit.
Model BIM and conduct field surveying.
List fabrication requirements and coordinate between trades.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or similar.
Strong analytical, critical thinking and mathematical aptitude with attention to detail.
Good working knowledge of hydraulic calculations and ability to read and understand blueprints.
Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities under time constraints.
Flexible and available as needed to travel to client sites.
Regular and reliable attendance, including extended hours and weekends as required.
