This position is responsible for capturing high-quality images, creating engaging digital content, and producing limited video materials to support the organization's communication and outreach efforts. This role involves photographing events, programs, and community activities, managing social media content, and assisting with video production as needed. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of digital media trends, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Support Public Affairs Department with special projects as needed.
This is a Work As Required position, scheduled for up to 25 hours per week. The role does not include benefits but offers the potential for additional hours based on departmental needs and project demands.Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Graphic Arts, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience in social media management, photography/videography and visual design.
Knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, InDesign), Canva or other editing/design software. Strong understanding of social media platforms and content trends.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Edit and enhance images for use on social media, websites, and promotional materials.
Maintain an organized archive of digital assets.
Research and make recommendations for additional photo uses on county websites and social media platforms.
Record and edit short-form videos for social media and digital marketing using DJI camera.
Ensure all content aligns with branding and messaging guidelines.
Manage social media accounts, including scheduling posts and monitoring engagement and insights, under the supervision of the Video Production Supervisor.
Requires regular, and at times sustained, performance of physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, kneeling, leaping, jumping down, standing in place or continual walking, lifting and carrying of moderate to heavy items on a consistent basis in possible various weather conditions.
