Position Overview
Department of Rehabilitation at NYU Langone Brooklyn invites applications for a full‑time licensed psychologist specializing in rehabilitation/health psychology (inpatient focus) or neuropsychology (outpatient focus). The role is ~80% inpatient, 20% outpatient.
Inpatient Responsibilities
Conduct brief neurobehavioral status exams to promote rehabilitation and psychosocial functioning and identify targets for psychological intervention.
Assess behavior, emotional state, insight/self‑awareness, and coping skills.
Provide brief, evidence‑based interventions to support adjustment, improve coping, and facilitate participation in the rehabilitation program.
Consult with team members daily and summarize data in verbal and written form to inform behavioral plans.
Participate in rounds, case conferences, and team meetings to discuss diagnosis and treatment management.
Deliver psychoeducational services to families.
Outpatient Responsibilities
Provide cognitive rehabilitation and/or individual psychotherapy to support adjustment and coping following acquired brain injury.
Offer health and behavior interventions to modify factors directly affecting physiological functioning, health and well‑being, or specific disease‑related problems.
Conduct comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations to clarify diagnosis and assist with identification of additional resources, return to work, long‑term planning, etc.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree in clinical psychology from an APA accredited program and a completed APA accredited pre‑doctoral internship.
Formal postdoctoral fellowship or equivalent in rehab psychology, health psychology, or clinical neuropsychology.
Licensure or license‑eligible in the state of New York and eligibility for ABPP board certification.
1–3 years post‑training clinical experience and expertise in assessment of stroke and/or traumatic brain injury (preferred).
Post‑training supervision experience and interest in training is preferred.
Compensation Salary range $110,000–$116,000.
