Senior Software Engineer – CoStar Group – Richmond, VA CoStar Group is a leading global provider of commercial and residential real estate information, analytics, and online marketplaces. We are seeking an accomplished Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer who excels at designing and architecting modern web applications. This engineer will support our Web Enterprise team in building the software tools that power our proprietary CRM platform and support our sales and research teams across Homes.com, CoStar.com, Apartments.com, LoopNet.com, and more.

Location: Richmond, VA – Monday‑Thursday in‑office, Friday remote.

Responsibilities

Build large‑scale, distributed, API‑driven systems for critical internal applications

Identify and resolve issues related to database performance and integrity

Design, document, and implement efficient and scalable database structures

Drive and lead software design, development standards, code reviews, and production releases

Collaborate closely with other Software Engineers across the organization

Continuously evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices that can strengthen CoStar’s technology platform and development practices

Take an active role in mentoring other developers

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college

5+ years of production development experience with .NET Core and the ability to integrate front‑end components into a scalable, secure, and maintainable backend architecture

3+ years of database design, T‑SQL programming, and performance tuning experience

Production development experience using modern front‑end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)

Experience architecting, designing, and building event‑driven applications in an agile environment

Excellent software development and engineering skills on large‑scale, mission‑critical applications

Proficiency in unit and performance testing

A track record of commitment to previous employers

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Document Data Systems (Dynamo, OpenSearch) is a plus

Comfortable working across the stack with Node.js on the server‑side

Experience with AWS S3, Lambda, SQS, Kafka, Redis is a plus

Experience with Docker and container orchestration is a plus

Experience working on a SOX compliant team is a plus
