KPMG is currently seeking a Managing Director to join our Trade & Customs practice.
Responsibilities
Play a key role in providing advice to clients, in a variety of industries, on import and export matters
Lead, participate in and contribute to market and business development activities external to the firm, including identifying and pursuing additional areas of opportunities such as international tax, state and local tax and transfer pricing, that could provide value to clients operations
Monitor and convey to clients information regarding U.S. and international import and export trade matters and research, write and review international trade advice
Formulate ideas and deliver possible trade savings opportunities
Contribute to the growth, experience and institutional knowledge of team members
Build, manage, direct and monitor multiple client engagements teams while maintaining active communication with clients in an effort to manage expectations and help ensure client satisfaction
Qualifications
Minimum ten years of recent import/export experience in the field of trade and customs as a customs attorney, customs broker, U.S. Customs Auditor or Import Specialist which includes experience in The Harmonized Tariff Schedule, customs federal regulations, NAFTA, entry processes, valuation and informed compliance methods
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and licensed CPA, JD/LLM, Enrolled Agent and /or hold a valid CBL (Customs Brokers license) issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, CUSICO (Certified US Import Compliance officer), CUSECO (Certified US Export Compliance Officer), CCS (Certified Customs Specialist)
Previous experience in a tax or advisory services firm, corporation or trade law firm
Demonstrated track record of business development with the ability to develop and maintain existing internal and external client relationships and help build new relationships with key targets
Experience leading multiple engagements and client service teams as well as developing and mentoring staff within a collaborative team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to evaluate and articulate complex information
