Capability Manager – Strategic Product Management – Remote

Primary Responsibilities
Capability / Product Management: Identify and define the capabilities required to achieve the strategic goals of the C&S Clinical Strategic Capabilities portfolio. Develop and implement strategic solutions to build and enhance capabilities, including development of strategic vision, roadmap, and features that bring the overall solution to life. Ensure capabilities align with overall business objectives and customer/market needs.
Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with other product managers, designers, developers, and various stakeholders to integrate capabilities into strategic roadmaps. Facilitate workshops and meetings to align and prioritize capability needs, requirements, and development plans. Collaborate with development, training, and readiness teams to build competency in new capabilities and prepare for go-to-market launch(es).
Gap analysis and improvement: Conduct regular capability gap analyses to identify areas for improvement and development. Develop strategic plans to address identified gaps and enhance product capabilities. Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented capabilities, using feedback loops, observations, and other measures in partnership with stakeholders and delivery partners.
Innovation and best practices: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in capability development. Introduce innovative solutions and approaches to enhance product capabilities. Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
Stakeholder management: Build and maintain solid relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, customers, and partners. Communicate capability roadmaps and progress plans to stakeholders effectively. Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment on capability goals, roadmap timelines, and outcomes.
Performance measurement: Establish and maintain metrics and KPIs to measure the success and impact of capabilities. Monitor and analyze capability performance data to identify trends and insights. Report on capability performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
Capability Governance: Govern capability delivery plans from idea through development and launch, ensuring timely and successful delivery to the markets. Collaborate with stakeholders and delivery teams to manage delivery timelines, resources, and budgets effectively. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align dependencies across and integration of capabilities across roadmaps.
Required Qualifications
7 years of experience in capability management / product management, or a related role within the product management or technology industry and a proven track record of developing and implementing capability strategies that drive improved experience and efficiencies.
Hands‑on experience in documenting product requirements and breaking down work into capabilities and features.
Experience with capability assessment frameworks, performance metrics, and data analysis tools.
Experience in developing clear, business‑friendly product strategy and vision, strategic roadmaps, product materials, and go‑to‑market plans.
Knowledge of product development / software development processes with the ability to lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Knowledge of industry‑standard product management lifecycle and associated deliverables.
Proven solid analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights.
Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
Proven strategic thinker with the ability to align capability initiatives with overall business goals.
Proven solid strategic product management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and define and manage complex roadmaps.
Proven solid stakeholder alignment, business acumen, and negotiation skills.
Proven excellent presentation and storytelling skills with the ability to develop business‑friendly materials and articulate complex ideas using easy‑to‑understand concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
Training and/or certification in Human‑Centered Design.
Experience in Healthcare product/capability management.
Knowledge of Medicaid & DNSP lines of business, including core Medicaid and LTSS.
Product Management / Product Manager Certification highly desired.
Remote work policy: All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy. You will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week for hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area.
Salary: The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full‑time employment.
