Construction (QA) Inspector – Airfield/Roadways Pavement
Location: Anchorage, AK
Base pay range: $80,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr
Job Title: Construction (QA) Inspector – Airfield/Roadways Pavement
Requirements: Must be US Citizen, pass federal background review and drug screen
Responsibilities
Must have knowledge of airfield runway construction improvements and pavement resurfacing to ensure required workmanship levels.
Perform and support a three-phase inspection system.
Provide daily QA reports documenting all activities observed for each on-site day in sufficient detail.
Review and analyze construction contractor progress.
Ensure safety requirements are met including EM 385-1-1 and OSHA requirements.
Monitor submittals utilizing a submittal status log.
Review design, comment logging, and back-checking; verify accurate as-built drawings.
Review and comment on the accuracy of the construction contractor’s requests for payment.
Review and acknowledge daily reports including verification of the project schedule by indicating the activities worked on that day and the activities behind schedule.
Maintain an Inspector Site Inspection Report.
Assist in response for Requests for Information (RFI), modifications and change orders.
Participate in pre-final and final inspections, assist in preparations of detailed punch-lists and check that all punch list items are corrected prior to final payment.
Experience & Education
High School diploma or GED with at least 7 years of construction inspection experience performing QA verification on construction contracts, airfield runway improvements, roadways or pavement resurfacing (highly preferred).
Associate Degree or Technical Training Degree with at least 5 years of construction inspection experience performing QA verification on construction contracts, airfield runway improvements, roadways or pavement resurfacing (highly preferred).
Bachelor of Science Degree with at least 3 years of construction inspection experience performing QA verification on construction contracts, airfield runway improvements, roadways or pavement resurfacing (highly desired).
Paving Inspector Certification provided by the Asphalt Institute required within 30 days of start date.
Experience in Resident Management System (RMS 3.0), preferred.
Experience enforcing EM 385-1-1, OSHA rules and regulations and all applicable safety requirements.
Demonstrated experience with performing QA inspections; submittal review, quality verification, validating contractor pay request and preparing daily reports.
Experience with Federal Construction projects, particularly US Army Corps of Engineers, preferred.
Interaction with clients and contractors requires a professional presentation along with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
