Job Overview STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES, the exclusive licensee of VSL® post‑tensioning systems in the United States, is hiring an Estimator to work in our Virginia office in Manassas, VA. The role focuses on estimating complex self‑performed construction projects that strengthen the nation’s infrastructure, including concrete repair, masonry restoration, post‑tensioning, and structural strengthening projects.

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed estimates by calculating quantity take‑offs, material price lists, labor costs per man‑hour, equipment costs, and applying them to the complete scope of work.

Define and quantify scope of work and prepare comprehensive conceptual, budgetary, and construction cost estimates for projects.

Review and research historical data, compiling summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates.

Maintain involvement in uncovering sales opportunities with prospective and existing customers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).

5‑12 years of construction estimating experience, ideally in concrete repair and/or heavy civil projects.

Proven ability to work with a team to estimate projects of moderate complexity up to $10 Million.

Ability to evaluate, quantify, and capture specification requirements within the estimate.

Prior experience with terms & conditions in construction contracts.

Strong understanding of the greater Northeast construction market, including current prices and key clients (engineers, architects, property managers, owners).

Experience maintaining client relationships while performing light business development.

Demonstrated construction math and computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and/or construction estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid preferred). Must also demonstrate ability to read blueprints.

Ability to travel 10‑20%.

Candidates based in the DC area preferred; fully remote candidates may be considered for the right applicant.
