About the Position VHB’s Watertown, MA office is looking for an Entry Level Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning & Operations group. The selected candidate will work with a team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public, private and institutional projects within a broad cross-section of markets, including private sector development, municipal, state agencies, higher education, federal land and aviation.
Responsibilities
Working within a team of professionals in developing traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects
Traffic impact studies
Safety studies
Transportation planning analyses
Research and interpret transportation data, community statistics and demographics
Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
Traffic data collection and tabulation
Intersection and roadway level of service analyses
Development, analysis and evaluation of traffic improvements
Roadway and intersection conceptual design
Skills and Attributes
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
Self-motivated with attention to detail
Ability to think critically
Strong computer skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required
Qualifications
BS in Civil Engineering
0-1 years of professional transportation engineering experience
EIT preferred
Experience with AutoCAD a plus
Experience with Synchro, Vissim, and/or HCS a plus
Experience with ArcGIS a plus
