Role Overview
Position Title:
SAP NS2 Expert Sybase Database Technology Consultant
Citizenship:
Must be a U.S. Citizen; this position requires access to customer data.
Mobility:
0-50% travel
Responsibilities
Perform database and system administrative tasks such as product installations, upgrades, backups, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, performance and tuning, and full life cycle support of related systems
Develop and implement software using object-oriented programming with a focus on building RESTful services to support the User Interface (UI), the middle tier, as well as implementing support for SQL/No SQL persistence layers.
Work with systems engineers and developers to develop detailed designs and translate and decompose requirements to a web-based architecture.
Work both independently and in an Agile team environment.
Analyze and study complex system requirements.
Perform analysis and integration of new technologies into the existing framework.
Required Skills
SQL database development skills (e.g. Sybase ASE, IQ, and Replication Server, SAP HANA, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).
Create/Review and enhance existing SAP/Sybase and other Databases SQL/Procedures scripts.
Review and enhance existing Sybase/SQL code to improve performance.
Database background with understanding of database analysis and design, performance tuning, SQL development query analysis & optimization, and modeling.
Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers.
Monitors and manages system resources, include CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency.
Software developers developing complex applications.
Web development, such as JavaScript or JSON.
Development within an Agile environment.
Experience with Linus (various distributions) and demonstrated strong UNIX Shell scripting Knowledge.
Documentation (white papers, install guides, presentations)
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of Sybase development experience w/strong command of SQL.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
Prior experience with enterprise software or cloud applications, e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, AWS, Google
Big Data technologies and/or Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools and techniques such as SAP Data Services, Informatica, Familiarity in orchestrating data with Airflow or similar tools.
Code delivery mechanisms, such as Maven or Ant.
Code repositories, such as Subversion or Git. Familiarity with CI/CD.
Python and/or Java development skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and writte
Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent training and job experience
SAP and Professional Certifications Desired
