LHH Recruitment Solutions is offering a Senior MEP Engineering Designer role in the Phoenix, AZ area. This is a direct‑hire position within a fast‑paced commercial construction firm. Applicants should have at least 10 years of MEP design experience and a strong background in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and structural engineering. EIT or PE certification is highly preferred.

Salary range: $100,000 – $110,000 annually.

Responsibilities

Ensure completion of tasks by overseeing directives to technicians, vendors, and supervisors.

Create design of all phases – conceptual, schematic, development, and construction documentation.

Oversee project budget, capex management, coordinate projects, initiate corrective actions, and forecast and analyze long‑term operational downtime.

Lead design efforts and mentor junior engineer design efforts.

Maintain compliance with construction building codes, zoning, and other regulations.

Prepare and present 3D modeling, renderings and presentations to clients and regulatory divisions.

Develop initiatives and apply a technical approach to process resolution, continuous improvement, production cost reduction, and reliability.

Oversee design projects; review specifications; analyze design and ensure monetary goals are met by performing preliminary and final reviews for construction projects.

Manage the design team in a manner that supports teamwork and development while providing technical leadership on maintenance issues.

Use safe working policies and practices consistently.

Represent the organization to vendors, clients and agencies professionally.

Conduct on‑site visits to oversee project progress.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering.

EIT or PE highly preferred.

Proven commercial construction project management experience on multi‑million‑dollar scope projects.

Minimum 10 years of experience in MEP commercial construction design.

Exceptional leadership skills, utilization of situational and servant leadership, and ability to create a vision for the department.

Proven management and leadership skills.

Proven knowledge of engineering calculations, layout, and design of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Structural/Architectural.

Experience collaborating with mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, Geotech, survey, etc. internally and externally.

Proven proficiency in using CAD programs – Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative.

Proven proficiency in using 3D programs – V‑Ray, Lumion.
