Job Summary
The IT Systems Consultant – SAP Basis role understands the strategic direction of the IT organization, the supporting systems/technologies, and architectures at an enterprise level. This position is responsible for assisting in the definition of the architecture and technology needs of the IT organization based on emerging technologies in the SAP Basis area. The incumbent leads and oversees SAP Basis operations for SAP Applications that support the business processes of all Avangrid Electric and Gas companies. This role also establishes priorities consistent with business needs and goals, serves as a technical consultant to maintain the SAP product lifecycle roadmap, and effectively manages the SAP Basis day‑to‑day operations, projects and roadmaps ensuring that resources are provided to meet the business needs. Key Responsibilities
Performs as the technical subject matter expert in managing complex/multiple SAP landscapes for production support and projects to meet SLA's, manages preventive maintenance including patching, upgrades, and performance management. Provides technical leadership to projects, teams and business initiatives, works with project teams and management to resolve technical issues and perform root cause analysis. Maintains knowledge of emerging technological trends and educates IT and business community to better utilize SAP solutions. Strictly follows Change Management policies, participates in critical incident resolution and problem management. Identifies and evaluates new technologies/services, recommends strategic direction, finds solutions to complex technology issues. Leads, plans, coordinates and provides activities associated with SAP Basis technology from inception through competition. Adjusts priorities in a dynamic fashion to account for changes in business needs. Ensures initiatives are carried out according to standards, recommends policies and procedures. Enforces SAP best practices, follows IT Security, Compliance and Audit guidelines. Mentors staff on technical subjects and business information. Collaborates with business area and IT management team to develop and maintain business applications/solutions. Participates in IT strategic planning and other IT leadership processes as required. Manages medium/large scale SAP implementation projects, upgrades, migrations and oversees external vendors/resources. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field with a minimum 10 years of relevant experience. 8+ years designing and building SAP system landscapes and Basis experience in building and supporting SAP systems including ECC, CRM, BW, PO, BOBJ, and HANA. Knowledge of OS (Unix/Linux) and DB (HANA, Oracle). Experience with Backup and Recovery of SAP systems, SAP systems refreshes, High Availability and DR setup, Solution Manager setup, full lifecycle projects, and upgrades and migrations. Strong service delivery experience within IT, prior leadership and management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to proactively identify innovative solutions, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Preferred Qualifications
SAP certification. Project Management experience. Experience with S/4HANA migration/transformation. Experience with Cloud infrastructure and migrations. Competencies
