Summary / Objective Our Project Engineer – MEP will collaborate with Project Managers (PMs) and Project Manager Assistants (PMAs) to lead the execution of two or more commercial construction projects. The Engineer will interact daily with crews, customers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure the team has accurate information and resources for success.
Essential Functions
Maintain project tracking reports to monitor productivity and labor utilization.
Create and maintain internal project schedules.
Prepare accurate and timely submittals based on drawings, specifications, and vendor information.
Track approved submittals from architects or engineers and coordinate with the project team.
Assist PM and other Project Engineers with backup for change requests.
Complete required project close‑out documents per contract.
Update and distribute contract documents to subcontractors, including drawings, specifications, and general conditions.
Schedule all required construction meetings with the ACI team and subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
Attend pre‑bid, project, and close‑out meetings.
Solicit subcontractor and supplier proposals prior to submission deadlines.
Prepare correspondence with client, architect, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Submit building permit applications, follow‑up on review progress, and receive approvals.
Assist PM to achieve quality, schedule, budget, and safety.
Utilize and maintain tools: schedules and documents management to track and record project performance.
Document quality and progress of each subcontractor and supplier and notify of any changes to plans, specifications, and/or schedule.
Inform management of productivity, costs, quality control, document management, and processing of payment applications.
Notify management of any issues that arise affecting quality, budget, progress, and safety.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required
Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 2+ years of experience in a commercial construction environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize team performance.
Superior communication and interpersonal skills essential to this role.
Multi‑task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, demonstrate attention to detail, and problem‑solve.
Adhere to all company policy and procedures.
Available to work assigned schedules.
Physical Demands
Standard office equipment (computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets, fax machines).
Travel
May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight).
Preferred
Experience as a Project Engineer on heavy commercial construction projects.
MS Project or other scheduling software tools.
3D modeling experience (Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor, Navisworks).
PDF editing software (Bluebeam, Adobe).
Familiarity with cloud‑based PM software.
Prior military experience.
