Position Summary As an Underwriter Trainee, you will undergo comprehensive training to develop a deep understanding of insurance underwriting principles and practices. You will work closely with seasoned underwriters to evaluate and analyze property exposures and make informed decisions to ensure profitability while providing excellent customer experience.
Essential Functions
Evaluate personal lines homeowners’ policy applications, endorsements, and renewals by analyzing property characteristics, identifying hazards, and using critical thinking to ensure profitable risk selection.
Perform due diligence by utilizing underwriting resources, vendor tools and loss activity to evaluate exposures and ensure risk selection contributes to profitable business growth.
Ensure adherence to Personal Lines underwriting standards, objectives, and guidelines to meet department production and quality requirements, state regulatory requirements and agent expectations.
Qualifications Required Education and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in business related field.
Strong critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, effectively handle and prioritize multiple projects/tasks to meet deadlines.
Ability to work productively in a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently in the office or remotely.
Professional, polished, poised and positive demeanor.
