Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President, this position is responsible for the management and monitoring of the workers’ compensation program and the process for employee accommodations requested under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This role serves as a resource for all DFW board employees, managers, HRBPs and third-party administrators to ensure compliance and efficiency to support the leave and injury management process, tracking workplace accommodations, and a smooth return to work process. What You’ll Be Doing
Supports the leave and workers’ compensation programs by following established internal policies and procedures in accordance with federal and state laws (FMLA, ADA, PWFA, OSHA, Texas Department of Insurance Workers’ Compensation, and Texas First Responder statutes). Conducts initial fact gathering of workers’ compensation claims and collaborates with the safety team to identify, research and resolve matters. Processes leave requests and ADA accommodations based on reviewed medical documentations and alignment with legal requirements under the guidance of senior analyst and AVP. Partners with Human Resources Business Partners to resolve cases and support return to work strategies. Analyzes information, uses judgement and provides recommendations for approval and/or denial of workers’ compensation claims, leave cases, and ADA accommodation requests based on relevant incident and medical information. Maintains accurate records of medical and leave-related documents, ensuring adherence to HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines. Monitors and updates tracking tools for leave and workers’ compensation claims and hours, and works with HR and Payroll teams to ensure employee pay is processed accurately. Prepares and presents reports as requested to various audiences, including, but not limited to, department leadership and division senior leaders regarding metrics and analytics on leave cases and accommodations and workers comp claims. Responds to work related injury/incident calls that may come in at any time (24x7 operation), as needed. Conducts investigations regarding incidents, interviews relevant parties, and coordinates medical treatment/care as needed. Supports training efforts by helping coordinate materials and logistics for leave administration, ADA accommodations, return to work, and workers’ compensation programs. Performs other related duties as assigned. What You Need
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, risk management, occupational safety, or a related field. One (1) plus year of experience in risk control (safety, claim), workers’ compensation, or leave administration. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above. Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of Texas workers compensation laws, including those for first responders. Knowledge of the Federal and State laws regarding the ADA, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), and ability to stay aware of and communicate internally when regulatory and legislative changes are expected. Skill in effective communication, critical thinking and ability to make sound recommendations to management. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels, both within and outside the department. Ability to analyze information and convert related activities into a comprehensive work plan. Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect and analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to multi-task and drive multiple projects. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Ability to maintain confidentiality related to employee leaves, ADA accommodations, and workers’ compensation. Ability to utilize problem solving, time management, and priority setting skills. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as HRIS and RMIS systems, including Origami Risk and Workday. Desirable
Certified in ADA, FML, and Workers Compensation. Multilingual abilities. Special Requirements
Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal. This is a designated essential employee position as defined in the Categories and Classifications of Employees Policy of the Airport Administrative Policy and Procedure. This is defined as an employee whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation. This role will on occasion require after hours action to investigate or support an incident response, including claims processing, medical authorization, initial fact gathering, and providing executive summary.
