Overview We are seeking a Power BI Developer to play a critical role in driving data-driven decision‑making across Kindthread’s operations. This role focuses on developing comprehensive Power BI reports and dashboards from our Redshift data warehouse while collaborating closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights. Working within an agile framework, the developer will transform complex retail and multi‑channel data into clear, compelling visualizations that guide strategic initiatives and operational improvements. The ideal candidate combines strong Power BI technical skills with growing business acumen and excellent communication abilities. You’ll work closely with the BI team lead, who will provide mentorship and guidance while you contribute to team success.
Essential Job Duties
Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI, ensuring alignment with business needs and stakeholder requirements
Create complex DAX measures and calculated columns to support advanced analytics and KPI tracking
Develop repeatable templates and design patterns to accelerate dashboard development and maintain consistency
Build visualization tools that bring together sales, customer, inventory, and operational metrics from multiple data sources
Create comprehensive documentation and facilitate training to enable end‑users to effectively utilize reporting tools
Maintain technical documentation, user guides, and process workflows in Confluence and SharePoint
Work with existing data models and views in Redshift data warehouse to create compelling visualizations
Manipulate large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive business decisions
Ensure data consistency and integrity across multiple reporting systems and data sources
Perform data validation and quality checks to maintain accuracy in all deliverables
Partner with business stakeholders across departments to understand reporting needs and translate requirements into technical solutions
Present findings to leadership and cross‑functional teams, translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
Facilitate requirements gathering sessions and document business needs for new reporting initiatives
Support ad‑hoc analysis requests and provide deep dives into business performance, trends, and opportunities
Manage changing priorities in a fast‑paced retail environment while maintaining quality deliverables
Work within agile/scrum methodologies using Jira or similar project management tools
Manage multiple concurrent projects while adapting to shifting business priorities
Identify opportunities to automate reporting processes and improve efficiency using BI tools
Collaborate with team members to establish best practices and maintain high standards for deliverables
Document processes, create knowledge transfer materials, and maintain team documentation in Confluence and SharePoint systems
Required Skills/Abilities
2-4 years of experience in business intelligence, data visualization, or reporting role, preferably in retail, e‑commerce, or multi‑channel environment
Power BI expertise, including dashboard development, data modeling, and performance optimization
DAX proficiency for creating measures, calculated columns, and advanced analytics
Power Query (M language) understanding for data transformation and backend processes within Power BI
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, particularly advanced Excel skills
Documentation platforms experience with Confluence for maintaining technical documentation and user guides
Experience with Jira or similar agile project management tools
Understanding of retail/multi‑channel business models and key performance indicators
Experience working with sales, marketing, inventory, and customer data
Knowledge of data visualization best practices and dashboard design principles
Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail
Stakeholder management experience, including requirements gathering and expectation management
Adaptability and flexibility to handle changing priorities and tight deadlines
Eager to learn and grow with the ability to work collaboratively with the team lead and mentorship
Collaborative mindset with experience working in cross‑functional teams
Time management skills to handle multiple concurrent projects effectively
Preferred Skills/Abilities
SQL skills with ability to write queries and work with relational databases (Redshift experience a plus)
Experience with other BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Domo, etc.)
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
Familiarity with customer analytics, conversion metrics, and e‑commerce KPIs
Version control experience (Git) for report management
Knowledge of data governance and best practices
Experience creating and modifying database views
