OVERVIEW
As the Sr. Network and Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, design, implementation, and maintenance of Passport Technology’s network infrastructure across multiple environments. This role ensures highly available, secure, and compliant network operations supporting our global business.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute the overall network architecture strategy aligned with business objectives and security requirements.
Lead, mentor, and develop the Network Administrator, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and budgets for networking equipment, software, and services.
Network Operations & Performance
Design, implementation, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, VPN, SD-WAN, and wireless infrastructure across all company sites and data centers.
Monitor network performance, capacity, and availability, implementing solutions to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Develop and maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, and disaster recovery plans.
Security & Compliance
Ensure PCI DSS compliance and audit readiness.
Implement and manage firewalls, IDS/IPS, network segmentation, and other security controls to protect critical systems and sensitive data.
Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and remediation efforts to maintain a secure network environment.
Maintain compliance with regulatory standards (PCI DSS, SOC 2, GDPR where applicable) and ensure timely response to findings.
Lead and execute network-related projects, including new site builds, product deployments, and system migrations.
Collaborate with application, product, and cloud teams to ensure network scalability and integration with Azure, knowledge of Proxmox, and other hosted environments.
Partner with IT leadership on business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
8+ years of progressive experience in network administration, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
Strong experience with network security controls, firewall administration, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Demonstrated experience achieving and maintaining PCI DSS compliance in a production environment.
Proficiency with enterprise networking technologies (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Juniper, etc.) and cloud networking (Azure).
Expertise with routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), VPN technologies, VLANs, and high-availability configurations.
Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
Familiarity with zero-trust architectures and micro-segmentation strategies.
CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES REQUIREMENTS
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate, or CompTIA Server+.
Industry recognized certifications in networking and security.
Strong Familiarity with compliance frameworks including PCI, DSS, SOC 2.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
Experience in a zero-trust or highly secure environment.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
