Functions of Position Working under the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist is a representative of the human resources department that assists in all HR functions and programs. HR Generalist assists in matters related to employment, payroll, and employee relations. Their work is often focused on recruiting applicants, reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and orienting new hires in relation to policies, procedures and benefits. Other duties include benefit administration and employee retention.
Job Duties
Developing and maintaining relationships with colleges through Handshake, ASU and Recruiting Agencies
Working alongside employment / recruiting agencies
Scheduling and attending career fairs to generate qualified applicants
Providing company information and job opportunities to potential candidates
Maintaining employee files as to ensure accuracy and compliance
Working alongside the Director of Human Resources and HR/Payroll Manager regarding overseeing benefits and payroll administration
Coordinating all employee incentive programs
Acting as a liaison between employees and insurance providers
Answering employee requests and questions related to HR and payroll
Reconciling benefits statements
Recruit and coordinate interviewing, references, and documentation for hiring
Follow up on hiring decisions
Assist with distributing, completing, and processing paperwork for new hires
Work with employees to answer benefits questions and assist in processing life events and open enrollment elections
Back up support for conducting new hire orientation and benefits orientation to build a strong foundation for new employees and increase employee engagement
Assist with scheduling and conduct employee exit interviews
Assist in the development of policies and procedures
Required Attributes
Strong ethics
Exemplary planning and time management skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload; can work within a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, related major or related work experience
Certification through SHRM or HRCI preferred
Excellent attention to detail while multi-tasking
Ability to handle sensitive situations and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products & ADP Workforce Now
Extremely strong organizational skills
Ability to build and develop relationships
Ability to execute daily tasks with minimal supervision
Maintain records or files of sensitive nature
Demonstrate ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and be a self-starter who works with integrity while also being a strong team player
Reporting The HR Generalist will report directly to the Director of Human Resources.
Evaluation Annual review by the Director of Human Resources to include peer input. Review will be based on interactions and engagement with the TEAM, evidence of how you demonstrate company values, ability to manage workload and competency in the execution of your duties. A positive attitude, interactions with clients, and team spirit will have a lot to do with the overall review.
