Job Overview
Mentors Needed for Struggling Youth is a volunteer role at Be A Mentor, Inc. in the SF Bay Area. The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers with youth in one‑to‑one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answer questions, and provide guidance. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource to help youth develop their full potential both inside and outside the classroom. Responsibilities
One‑on‑one attention to the mentee Study skills coaching Academic support and homework help Goal setting and career exploration Encouragement and encouragement for success Meetings focus on goal setting, homework help, and career exploration. While there may be a focus on homework help, these sessions are more than just tutoring. You form a personal relationship with your mentee to build resilience, social engagement, and a support network. Qualifications
• Must reside in the United States. • Academic mentor must spend at least one hour per week with their mentee using Be A Mentor’s Virtual Mentoring Platform. • Due to our current background check system we are unable to accept anyone outside of the US at this time.
