GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Senior Project Engineers have cradle to grave responsibilities where they lead complex projects from proposal preparation through detailed design, analysis, prototype, testing, manufacturing and production support.
A Senior Project Engineers responsibilities vary from project to project and from customer to customer. The day to day responsibilities of a senior project engineer may include leading the preparation of CAD solid models and 2D drawings, FEA analysis for structural integrity & strength, perform calculations for component strength, tolerances and stacks. Project Engineers are responsible for the performance and delivery of a suspension solution that meets the goals of our customers.
The position will require working closely with customers, supply base, manufacturing and other company groups to optimize designs for wide variety of applications.
PRIMARY FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Determine product specifications by evaluating project requirements, customer specifications, and performance standards.
Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from sub-contractors and suppliers.
Develop project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
Prepare customer quotations and review subcontracts.
Prepare and present project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions. Ex. Preliminary Design Review.
Communicate technical and programmatic status of project with customers, suppliers, and/or our company teams thru written reports and presentations as required.
Select parts, components, and/or sub-systems to optimize performance, cost, delivery, and quality to meet application requirements.
Confirm product performance by designing and conducting tests as required to develop product.
Develop/validate corrective actions as a result of testing to improve product and maintain project schedule.
Provide priorities for team members supporting your programs
Host internal design reviews where the senior project engineer provides feedback and final approval of designs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME/MSME) or equivalent Engineering Degree.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a project engineer managing multiple projects and customers.
Knowledge of suspension systems for heavy weight class commercial and/or defense vehicles.
Must be energetic, highly motivated, self-starting individual, with a strong capability for self-learning and driven to complete projects.
Must be detail-oriented with a high standard for accuracy and thoroughness
Good communication skills in spoken and written forms are also required.
Must be proficient with MS Office tools particularly Excel, Word, and Power point.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following qualifications:
Suspension design experience with military wheeled & tracked vehicles.
Experience with high pressure hydraulics, seals, valves, and structures.
Stress analysis skills and knowledge of materials, heat treatments, finishes, and manufacturing processes.
Working knowledge of multiple suspension spring systems such as mechanical, pneumatic, and hydro pneumatic types.
Experience with suspension damping valve mechanisms and the required adjustment and tuning necessary to meet ride and handling objectives.
Proficient with Solid Works and/or Pro E CAD systems and FEA tools.
TRAVEL 10% This position may require occasional travel (national and international).
