Job Title: Human Resources Coordinator (Temp to Perm)
Client: Well-Known & Stable Construction Company
Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Employment Type: Temporary to Permanent
Duration: 3-6 month temp period with conversion to permanent for qualified candidates

Position Summary Our client is seeking an experienced Human Resources Coordinator to join their growing construction team in Oakland. This temp-to-perm opportunity is ideal for an HR professional with specific construction industry experience and hands-on knowledge of Viewpoint Vista HRIS. The successful candidate will support all aspects of human resources operations while ensuring compliance with construction-specific labor regulations and union requirements.
Key Responsibilities Core HR Functions:
Manage full-cycle recruitment for construction positions including skilled trades, project managers, and administrative staff
Coordinate onboarding processes for new hires, including safety training requirements and trade certifications
Maintain employee records in Viewpoint Vista HRIS system
Process employment verifications, background checks, and drug screenings per construction industry standards
Administer benefits enrollment, changes, and COBRA processing
Support performance review processes and employee relations matters
Construction-Specific Duties:
Ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements and certified payroll reporting
Coordinate with union representatives and manage union-related HR matters
Maintain records for apprenticeship programs and trade licensing
Support safety training coordination and OSHA compliance documentation
Assist with workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs
Manage construction project staffing and labor allocation tracking
Administrative Support:
Prepare HR reports and metrics for management review
Assist with policy development and employee handbook updates
Support HR audits and regulatory compliance requirements
Handle employee inquiries regarding benefits, policies, and procedures
Maintain confidential personnel files and documentation
Required Qualifications
3+ years of Human Resources experience in the construction industry
Hands-on experience with Viewpoint Vista HRIS system (non-negotiable)
Knowledge of construction labor laws, prevailing wage requirements, and union relations
Understanding of OSHA safety regulations and construction-specific compliance
Experience with certified payroll and Davis-Bacon Act requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications
PHR, SHRM-CP, or other HR certification
Experience with multi-state construction projects
Knowledge of California labor laws and construction regulations
Experience with workers' compensation and safety programs
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Work Environment
Fast-paced construction environment with multiple projects
Occasional visits to job sites may be required
Standard business hours with occasional overtime during busy periods
