Texas Military Department – Staff Services Officer I (Support) The Texas Military Department (TMD) is commanded by The Adjutant General of Texas and provides support to the Texas National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, and Texas State Guard. The Staff Services Officer I performs routine, journey-level staff services work in personnel, purchasing, records management, and accounting/bookkeeping functions.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and perform several staff services functions related to human resources, purchasing, records management, and bookkeeping.

Provide administrative support to internal and departmental staff, including correspondence preparation, editing, and distribution.

Develop, maintain, and manage filing and record‑keeping systems.

Respond to and route phone calls, take messages, and greet visitors.

Set up and troubleshoot equipment, telecommunications, and information technology needs.

Maintain administrative, bookkeeping, personnel, and daily data communication records.

Act as Integrated Engineering Management System (iEMS) Administrator to support facility requirements and resource planning.

Assist with procurement and inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies, including IT hardware and software.

Manage schedules and travel arrangements for leadership as needed.

Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours; perform duty in support of emergencies, disasters, and missions.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university.

One (1) year of experience in office management, human resources administration, staff support, program management, or fiscal management activities.

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Additional years of work experience may substitute required education on a year‑per‑year basis up to four years.

Experience with records management, Defense Travel System (DTS) travel coordination, Air National Guard Reserve Order Writing System (AROWS), and Microsoft TEAMS platform.

Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Selected candidate must pass a federal security background investigation (NACI and fingerprinting).
