Overview

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Research is a full-time faculty position with primary emphasis on research and scholarly activity, complemented by teaching and service. Faculty in this role are expected to lead and contribute to research that advances veterinary and biomedical knowledge, foster student learning through integration of research into teaching, and engage in service to the profession and community. The position carries first-order responsibility for developing and conducting research, securing external funding, publishing and presenting findings, and mentoring students in research, directly supporting the mission of the University and the College of Veterinary Medicine. Required Qualifications

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine ( DVM / VMD ), PhD, or equivalent degree. Demonstrated record of research productivity, including peer-reviewed publications and pursuit of extramural funding Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree, residency training, or specialty board certification in a research-related discipline. Previous teaching experience in an academic setting. Experience mentoring students or junior faculty in research. Veterinary clinical or biomedical research experience Campus

Develop and/or lead independent and collaborative research programs that advance veterinary medicine, biomedical sciences, or veterinary education Secure extramural funding through competitive grants and other funding mechanisms to sustain research initiatives Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present research at regional, national, and international meetings Collaborate with faculty across disciplines on interdisciplinary research projects and grant applications Mentor students and junior faculty in research design, methodology, analysis, and dissemination Maintain compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements in research laboratories Stay current with advancements in the field and incorporate new knowledge into research activities Develop and deliver graduate- and professional-level courses, classes, and laboratory sessions related to research methodologies, evidence-based medicine, and applied biomedical sciences Utilize team-based learning and other active-learning strategies to promote engagement, critical thinking, and inquiry-based learning Utilize team-based learning and other active-learning strategies to promote engagement, critical thinking, and inquiry-based learning Establish and maintain course goals, objectives, and outcomes for lectures, laboratories, and other learning activities Uphold high standards of intellectual integrity and academic excellence in all teaching activities, ensuring that course content is accurate, current, and relevant Prepare, administer, and grade assessments, in coordination with Academic Affairs staff, that measure student achievement of research-related learning outcomes Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student grades, evaluations, and performance Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student grades, evaluations, and performance Participate in College and University committees, research task forces, initiatives related to research infrastructure, and other initiatives Support the development of institutional, program accreditation, and other required regulatory activities Manage laboratory resources, research supplies, biosafety programs, and data security associated with research projects Maintain professional veterinary licensure as appropriate for responsibilities of the role Complete required continuing education as mandated for all OPCVM faculty by the Florida Commission for Independent Education and other relevant licensing, credentialing, or regulatory bodies Demonstrate ongoing commitment to professional growth Foster professional relationships with peers, students, other academic programs, and external partners to advance collaborative research and scholarship Engage in interprofessional and community-based research programs that contribute to veterinary medicine, animal health, and One Health initiatives Promote respect for knowledge, inquiry, and academic discourse within the College.
