We’re seeking a
Natural Gas Well & Drilling Specialist
to provide technical input and oversee all storage-related well stimulation, rehabilitation, plugging and drilling activities necessary to maintain compliance with the Company’s Underground Natural Gas Integrity Management Plan (UNSIMP). Key Accountabilities: Responsible for all facets of surface and subsurface wells regulatory permitting, design, and construction. Responsible for well procedures and well authorization for expenditure (AFE) creation. Responsible for storage well work invoice tracking and payment and service contract management Leads all well permitting, and on-site supervision of drilling, plugging, wire lining, slick lining, well testing, and well workover work and rig projects and activities. Ensure adherence to storage procedures which include safety and environmental regulations. Develop recommendations to management by applying technical knowledge of well drilling and design for horizontal drilling, underbalanced drilling, and conventional drilling projects for use in decision making and evaluating projects. Ensure adherence to well project management principles and practices such as API 1171, API 6A and 6D. Select vendors for services and materials, complete or coordinate material procurement, landowner contacts and state filings. Perform field and office projects (with both internal and external personnel) for drilling, testing, maintenance, and stimulation of gas storage well. Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma with 15 years of oil and gas well drilling, construction, and maintenance experience, OR Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or Construction Management, with thirteen (13) years of oil and gas well drilling, construction, and maintenance experience. Preferred Qualifications: Strong petroleum, natural gas or geologic engineering background with an emphasis in all facets of well construction and maintenance including permitting, well planning and execution. Experience with drilling, logging, plugging, and workover activities with an emphasis on well site supervision of gas storage wells. Technical knowledge of well stimulation design and pressure control devices during well drilling, workover activities, logging, slickline and coil operations. IADC/IWCF Certification - Supervisor Level in Drilling Operations, Surface Stack Rating, well control certified Thorough understanding of wellhead and pressure control equipment used on high-pressure gas storage wells. Significant experience with coiled tubing cleanouts and stimulation operations on high-pressure gas wells. Field leadership skills and ability to solve problems. Technical writing and verbal communication skills Organizational and interpersonal skills Proficient with Excel and other Microsoft products Other Requirements: Work closely with people at all levels both within and outside the company. Make clear and concise presentations to all levels of management. Must have a valid driver's license, provide a suitable vehicle for use on company business and meet company driving standards. This position requires the individual to work a minimum of 40 hours per week (45-50 typical) with up to 50% of time spent in field locations providing necessary onsite support while new well construction and testing activities are taking place. Travel is required to job sites and project meetings and could be significant dependent upon location. Available to work nights and weekends as required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to stand and walk for periods of up to 8 hours or more during varying weather conditions.
