Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) The Director of Workforce Development is a strategic and dynamic leadership position responsible for advancing the College’s Mission, marketing, aligning workforce training to meet regional workforce needs, and scheduling classes, training programs, and workshops that meet the needs of industry and business partners. Duties And Responsibilities Build and maintain strong partnerships with employers, chambers of commerce, economic development agencies, and community organizations. Develop new workforce initiatives to address skills gaps and advance regional economic growth. Collaborate with academic schools to integrate workforce pathways into credit-bearing programs, complement academic programming, and build a faculty pool to teach workforce offerings. Manage budgets, explore grants, and find external funding sources/opportunities to expand workforce training. Serve as a community ambassador for the college. Schedule, staff, and market workforce development programs. Create specialized training programs, workshops, and seminars for industry and business partners. Develop personal enrichment programs for adults and youth. Research and offer programs leading to industry certifications. Determine tuition for each offering and work with Vice President of External Affairs to set annual enrollment goals for each offering to reach overall department revenue targets. Work with the Assistant Director of Workforce Development to prepare and execute employment contracts for instructors in compliance with the College’s employment policies and procedures. Propose an annual budget for the department and manage it once it is approved. Actively recruit training opportunities for the Workforce Development department. Customize training programs to meet clients’ needs. Coordinate the Advanced Manufacturing Program with DSCC's Engineering Systems Technology program to develop training opportunities and apprenticeship pipelines. Coordinate with the DSCC Emergency Medical Services program director to register the workforce development paramedic and healthcare programs and develop training opportunities and apprenticeship pipelines as needed by industry partners. Oversee the apprenticeship programs for DSCC, recruit new apprentices, and work with employers to onboard new programs. Track and report apprenticeship hours in the Workhands program and in institutional required reporting. Work to increase enrollment of Military and Military Affiliated students in credential courses within the Workforce Development. Identify and solicit grant opportunities to assist with training as needed. Travel to businesses within the service area to meet with prospective clients and industry partners. Work collaboratively with the Office of External Affairs to design marketing materials for the athletic department. Maintain the department’s social media pages, online course catalog, and Campus CE accounts on a regular basis. Participate in Chamber of Commerce Coffees and After-Hour events, and other community meetings. Represent and introduce Workforce Development at local civic clubs and organizations. Issue Continuing Education Unit (CEU) certificates for completed courses electronically and by mail. Supervise the Assistant Director of Workforce Development in maintaining a permanent record system for Workforce Development classes in Campus CE. Answer incoming calls relating to Workforce Development information in the absence of the Assistant Director of Workforce Development. Work with Financial Aid to ensure students follow any registration procedures as needed for federal funding that might be available for non-credit courses. Responsible for updating and implementing Workforce Development policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Sedentary: Desk work; travel will be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort. Required Qualifications Implement and organize various special interest/focused programs and workshops for business and industry, as well as community members. Supervise the Assistant Director of Workforce Development, instructors, and other staff needed to implement programs and track enrollment and payments. Update departmental social media sites weekly. Maintain the departmental budget in compliance with College policies and procedures. Work nights and weekends as needed. Minimum Requirements Of Education And Experience A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. Social Media experience and understanding of engaging prospective students on various approved social media platforms with graphics and informational materials, as well as expertise in software applications such as Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). At least two years of workforce development, sales, or related experience. At least one year of experience managing budgets and supervising staff is required. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Business, Communications, or Marketing, and experience using various social media platforms to increase sales or enrollments. Experience in workforce development programs or experience working with business and industry training programs. Salary range:
