The PMC assists the local Church within a specific deanery/ parish cluster, parish in the development of concrete, specific programs and projects in service, outreach and advocacy for and with poor families and communities. The PMC works in collaboration with pastors and parish/cluster staffs, the Regional CCS/CHS Network Builder, parishioners, the Archdiocese of Seattle, CCS/CHS programs at the regional/local level, Catholic organizations such as St. Vincent de Paul in the parish/cluster. Reports to:
CCS/CHS Regional Network Builder. Supervision and accountability measures will be developed in a mutual agreement between CCS/CHS and the pastoral leader of the specific deanery/parish cluster/parish in which the PMC serves. Responsibilities
The Pastoral Mission Coordinator is responsible for the following: Collaborates with the dean /pastors in implementing the social mission of the parishes/deanery. This is accomplished by participating in the comprehensive planning, implementation and evaluation of deanery/cluster/parish goals and objectives focused on social service, outreach, and advocacy efforts. This includes organizing the development of and expansion of outreach, advocacy programs, and supporting other such programs as needed. It includes collaboration with the Regional Network Builder for support and resourcing. Prepares annual work plan with 6 month concrete goals and objectives for specific program development and implementation within the deanery/cluster/parish. Assures the integration of various existing parish/cluster/deanery projects and outreach ministries and serves as parish liaison, e.g. St. Vincent de Paul Conferences, PREPARES, CCS/CHS programs, food banks, etc. into parish life and a shared sense of mission. Projects have included revitalization of St. Vincent de Paul Conferences, Christmas donation drive, food distribution, donation drives, vaccine clinics, etc. Connects the local Catholic community to CCS/CHS programs and supports opportunities for engaged outreach projects and ministries. For example, leading a welcome home basket donation drive for a new shelter or permanent supportive housing program. Assures development of volunteers to lead and participate in outreach and advocacy programs. This is accomplished by recruiting, training, motivating, supporting volunteers, and providing ongoing opportunities for faith formation and development. Assists when necessary with educational and formation programs on Catholic Social Teaching and the social mission of the Church in the deanery/cluster/parish. Supports the Regional Network Builder in coordination with Catholic Schools to develop and implement virtual or in-person immersion opportunities connected to Catholic Social Teaching and the social mission of the Church. Assists with coordination of parish/ cluster/deanery social advocacy efforts at city, county, state levels including South Seattle Deanery Outreach group, South Seattle Deanery Racial Solidary Team, North Seattle Deanery Racial Justice, and other local advocacy education. Assures the availability of information and referral services by the parishes for social outreach concerns. Establishes and maintains relationships with appropriate referral services. Monitors budgets as needed including expenses and revenues, and prepares reports as requested. Maintains purchase requests, ordering, monitoring supplies. Ensures that social outreach ministry and advocacy efforts are publicized through the various cluster/deanery social media, such as Sunday bulletins, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, etc. Meets with CCS/CHS Regional Network Builder for ongoing support, feedback, and leadership on program and project organization and development. Co-facilitates the CCS/CHS Nourishing program. Responsibilities include sitting on the Nourishing committee, supporting Nourishing gatherings, as well as the development of staff resources. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in theology, social work, religious studies, or comparable work experience. At least 2 years active participation on a parish staff or in parish life, outreach, and advocacy committees and/or activities. Experience working with vulnerable populations. Community organizing skills. Program building skills. Excellent written, oral communication skills. Proven cultural competency skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products ( Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint). Proficiency with social media. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual — Spanish / English. 5 years or more experience working with vulnerable populations . Work experience in a Catholic parish or Catholic social service organization or in a domestic or international social justice outreach or advocacy field, preferably with project development.
