POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, GL Operations plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial records of the company. This pivotal role manages the general ledger operations (GL Ops) team ensuring journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations are completed timely and accurately, as well as driving process improvements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Executes key operational strategies, as established by Shared Services Accounting leadership, by managing current practices/processes and implementing a multi-year roadmap to improve the stakeholder experience, reduce mistakes, improve efficiency and focus on end-to-end processes. Supports the larger Alterra Mountain Company Shared Services Accounting team strategic objectives Monitors and is accountable for monthly key performance metrics, providing explanations for any variances to targets/benchmarks Ensures and is accountable for a complete and accurate month-end close process within established deadlines of the Company Ensures the appropriate application of accounting in accordance with GAAP Supports and develops the personal and professional capacity of team members (2-4 direct reports and 10+ indirect reports), including coaching, training, mentoring, peer exchanges, and continuing education Creates a culture of continuous improvement, recognition and career progression for team Manages and monitors key process documentation and standardization efforts. Encourages team to examine existing processes for improvements Assists the Director, GL Ops with prioritization of process improvement areas Assesses staff workload and works with Director, GL Ops to ensure team size is appropriate. Communicates with stakeholders regarding policies and procedure changes Ensures explanations, as needed, for monthly variance analysis for both the balance sheet and P&L are provided timely to the GL Analytics team Ensures monthly balance sheet reconciliations are completed and unexplained variances are resolved on a timely basis Ensure the transition of accounting tasks and processes, resulting from M&A or process standardization efforts, from the GL Analysis team to the GL Ops team is effective and supported with appropriate communication and training Ensure all internal control documentation and compliance related to the above responsibilities is properly prepared Participate in external audits as needed Other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge

Detailed understanding of US GAAP and experience in applying to various transactions and fact patterns Detailed understanding of shared services delivery models Proficient in use of technology, specifically Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams Skills & Abilities

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree required; preference towards accounting, finance or other related field CPA license preferred Experience

5+ years of related experience in progressively responsible accounting roles; a combination of public and industry-specific experience preferred 2+ years of leadership experience with a proven track record of mentoring, coaching, and developing a team of high quality, effective direct reports Experience with financial system implementations is a plus Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Blackline, or OneStream a plus Denver area base salary range: $100,000 - $140,000 per year.
