Senior Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction
Full‑Time | Experienced | On‑Site / Field‑Based Overview
We’re seeking an accomplished Senior Project Manager to lead major heavy civil and transportation infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey and surrounding regions. This role is ideal for a construction professional with a proven track record delivering complex bridge, roadway, and structural steel projects from planning through completion. The position calls for a strong leader who can navigate public‑sector contracts, manage multiple project teams, and ensure safe, timely, and cost‑effective results. Role Summary
The Senior Project Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of large‑scale infrastructure projects, including bridge replacements, highway reconstruction, and structural steel work. Success in this position requires deep knowledge of public infrastructure project delivery, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams while maintaining strict adherence to budget, schedule, quality, and safety standards. Key Responsibilities
Oversee all project phases from preconstruction planning through final closeout. Serve as the primary point of contact for public agencies, clients, and project stakeholders. Lead project teams including engineers, superintendents, foremen, and field personnel to achieve schedule, budget, and quality goals. Manage project scope, cost, schedule, subcontractor performance, safety protocols, and quality control. Review design documents, technical specifications, and coordinate with engineers, consultants, and design teams. Prepare and maintain key project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, schedules, monthly reports, and cost forecasts. Ensure full compliance with agency standards, specifications, safety regulations, and contract requirements. Oversee final stages of the project including punch list resolution, inspections, and closeout activities. Mentor and support the professional development of junior team members, including assistant project managers and project engineers. Foster a collaborative, safety‑focused work environment built on integrity, accountability, and teamwork. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of heavy civil construction experience, including at least 5 years in a senior project management capacity. Proven experience managing large‑scale transportation infrastructure projects such as bridges, highways, or roadway reconstruction. Demonstrated success delivering projects for state transportation agencies or similar public‑sector clients. Strong familiarity with state DOT specifications, contract documents, and industry best practices. Experience working with union labor forces. Excellent leadership, communication, and team coordination skills. Strong technical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed. OSHA 30 certification preferred. What’s Offered
