Overview Assistant Director of Nursing (ADNS) role at Athena Health Care Systems, located at Oakland Grove Health Care Center in Woonsocket. 153‑bed skilled nursing facility, salaried role with weekly pay.

Experience & Education

Current, unencumbered RN license in this state.

B.S.N. preferred; other nursing degree accepted.

CPR certified.

Minimum one year supervisory experience in a hospital, long‑term care, or related facility.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing day‑to‑day operations of Nursing Services.

Maintain familiarity with facility organizations and functions of all departments.

Meet clinical needs of residents while promoting positive resident and family relations.

Contribute to effective communication and pleasant working conditions; demonstrate leadership.

Assist with maintaining, reviewing and input to development of all clinical policies and procedures.

Assist with continuous monitoring and reviewing staffing needs, schedules and assignments.

Oversee certification status of nursing assistants and maintain tracking system for in‑service hours.

Ensure nurses are licensed and maintain tracking mechanism for license currency.

Make rounds of each nursing unit and perform visual inspection.

Ensure medications are administered, handled, stored and audited properly.

Assist Director of Nursing with reviewing satisfaction of care and services by interviews with families and residents.

Assist Infection Preventionist in establishing and maintaining Infection Control Program.

Assist Director of Staff Development in ensuring mandatory in‑service education sessions per schedule; document retention.

Assist Director of Nursing in developing nursing safety standards, monitor incidents and develop plan of correction and audit tool.

Assist with monthly nursing department staff meetings for all three shifts.

Participate in government agency surveys and inspections; implement plans of correction for deficiencies.

Other duties as assigned by manager.

Specific Requirements

Read, write, speak and understand English.

Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.

Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, families, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

Know nursing and medical practices and procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long‑term care.

Know privacy rule and ensure staff comply with facility privacy policies and procedures.

Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures for quality care.

Patience, tact, professional demeanor, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult residents, families and staff.

Seek out new methods and principles; incorporate them into nursing practices.

Communicate effectively to appropriate personnel regarding emergency situations.

Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
