Overview
Join an Integrated Design and Engineering firm expanding its structural engineering / building envelope team in Los Angeles. The role focuses on investigating the service life of building envelope assemblies, assessing enclosure systems, and designing repairs. You will perform building performance analyses including daylighting, solar heat gain, and integration with mechanical, lighting, and plumbing systems. Responsibilities
Investigate the service life of building envelope/enclosure assemblies and assess enclosure systems Design repairs for existing enclosure systems Perform enclosure reviews for air infiltration, rain water control, heat transfer, and vapor transmission Conduct building performance analyses including daylighting, solar heat gain, and thermal energy transfer Holistically integrate the enclosure with building mechanical, lighting, and plumbing systems Qualifications
M.S. in Architectural Engineering or Architecture in Building Science/Building Enclosures (or Historic Preservation) PE or Registered RA license required 9+ years’ experience in building enclosure design, repair, retrofit and integrated design and delivery of high-performance buildings Experience with building performance modeling software (ECOTECT, VASARI, ENERGYPLUS, EQUEST, DESIGNBUILDER, DIVA, IES-VE, THERM, WUFI) is preferred Familiarity with exterior wall systems Familiarity with roofing assemblies Familiarity with building structural systems Good understanding of building science and thermal analysis concepts as well as knowledge of modeling building performance and sustainability Seniority level
