Overview
Sika is looking for an experienced Sr. Product Engineer to join its growing team based in Madison Heights, Michigan. The Sr. Product Engineer will provide technical support for Sika's Automotive and Industry business units, assess vetted sales opportunities, assist with product selection, and support lab testing and product launch needs. Key Responsibilities
Provide technical support to Sales to secure new business opportunities or protect existing business within Sika’s Industry and Automotive market fields, with a focus on reactive / non-reactive hot melts, lamination adhesives & processes, and profile wrapping applications. Execute other technical objectives as prioritized by the business units. Become the division’s repository of technical expertise for Sika’s Industry and Automotive products, uses, and competitive positioning. Develop programs to train Industry Sales, Marketing and other Sika staff on market field uses, applications, and other relevant information. Provide support to resolve customer complaints resulting from product or application failures. Assist the development of all technical documents for new products (Product Data Sheets, Application Equipment, Application Know How, and Application limitations). Assist with maintaining proper product listings, registrations, certifications in all industry-related regulatory bodies. Assist with the proper application of the Product Creation Process towards the commercialization of new products. Maintain active membership in external technical committees and participate through presentations & training at Industry Conferences / Committee meetings. Provide monthly reports on all major activities and accomplishments to Supervisor. Support customer visits and other related overnight travel as needed, approximately 25% - 40% of the time. All other related activities as defined by Supervisor. Qualifications
Minimum education: BS in Chemical / Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline required. Experience with adhesives, sealants, or coatings required. Experience with hot melts and lamination adhesives preferred, as well as hands-on laboratory experience preferred. Skilled in Project Management & Microsoft Office suite of administrative tools. Ability to interact well with people at all levels. Demonstrated ability to apply strategic process management and planning skills to commercial projects. Excellent written/verbal communication skills and good commercial presence required. Perks & Benefits
